Fun Facts : Ciabatta Bread

Ciabatta Bread

This is an Italian white bread with the literal translation of the word slipper because of its shape. Since the 1990's it has been popular across Europe and in the United states being used widely as a sandwich bread.

If you travel to Italy you will find that in each region they have their own version of this bread. From the area encompassing Lake Como their version of this bread has a crisp crust, a soft and porous texture in the middle, and is light to the touch. In Tuscany, Umbria, and Marche this bread ranges from firm crust and dense insides to a crisper crust and a more open texture inside.

Challenge One : Bread

Hellooooo! How are you?!

Today I have started my first Italian recipe! I am going to try and make some Ciabatta Bread.

Now I do not own a bread maker so I am going to be doing this using my oven. I have never made bread before without a bread maker so I am really hoping this comes out at least edible.

I did already go ahead and made the dough. But I cannot make the bread until tomorrow since it takes 18 hours for it to rise. Wish me luck!
